My baby is sick. He has a sore throat and a runny nose and after he coughs he looks up at me like, "Mommy make it better" but I can't and it's heartbreaking. I sent Tomas to the store for baby tylenol, a cool air humidifier and a Vicks Vapor machine thingie. That and a boob or two is the best I can do right now.

Tomas is off to some meeting and as a present for leaving me here with a sick baby (who of course didn't sleep last night) and the two girls he's going by the yarn store on his way home and buying me treats. I'm getting snazzy sock yarn so that once I'm done with this pair of shorties I can learn to make socks. After he returns with my new goodies I'll have enough yarn for 7 or so more projects.

Netflix delivered some 80's series called The Singing Detective. I can't remember when or why I added it to my queue but it looks entertaining.

The weekend was pretty nice. I grilled/smoked my chicken on Saturday, had the neighbors and Tamara/Alder/Griffin over for burgers and hot dogs on Sunday and then Monday we went to the lake cabin with my mom. I got some really nice pictures of Rhiannon Sunday night. She's so photogenic and pretty but she hates having her picture taken. I don't know how I, the most unphotogenic person on earth, managed to have two kids who photograph so well.

Today we took Jack in for his 4 month appointment. He's gained weight but not enough to keep him from sliding on his curve more. It's frustrating and worrying. He had a rough week because we were out so much last week and he doesn't eat well when we're not at home (too many distractions) plus he's got ANOTHER cold. Hopefully now that the girls are out of school there will be fewer intrusive curious children to get him sick. The doctor has us adding extra formula to make the bottles he gets (he only really wants 2 or 3 a day of about 2ozs each) more calorie dense. If he hasn't gained better by July she'll start running more serious tests. It's one thing to be a lean kid it's quite another to be dropping off your curve. He's happy and active so I'm not too terribly worried but I would like to get it figured out and stopped.

Jack is 6 weeks old today. He's following in his Big-Sister-With-The-Short-Hair's (as Isadora likes to call herself) footsteps and has developed horrible baby acne. Nothing to be done but wait it out. He even has it on his head poor thing. At least he's too young to be bothered by the taunts of other acne free 6 weekers.

And look.... blurry baby smile!!!

I think Jack might be going through his 6 week growth spurt early, that or he still just feels crappy. After two nights of under 4 hours of sleep I managed to get 6 last night (divided in two batches) but that didn't stop me from completely zonking out this afternoon while nursing the Little Dude. I woke up right when I was supposed to be leaving to get the girls with Jack asleep in my arms and his head covered in my drool. Such an awesome mom I am.

As sweet as it is to watch Jack snooze atop his daddy's chest at night it is not fun when Tomas has to get up to work (for the second night in a row) and I'm kept awake for hours because Jack refuses to sleep anywhere but in his daddy's arms. Argh!

I'm part way into Romance & Cigarettes and so far it is nothing but strange. Very very very strange. I'm not sure if I shouldn't be watching it in a sleep deprived state or if that's the only way one should watch it.

Things have been a little active this week. We got a minivan on Thursday. It's a '07 with a warranty and while not stylish or cool fits all of us comfortably and runs well. It's a delight to a) have something to get around in b)not have to worry about it breaking down or over heating and c)have working a/c and heat. It even has Sirius radio.

This weekend our neighbors have all been moving. We live in a 100+ year old house that was divided into four apartments eons ago. The lady who was living adjacent to us on the bottom level moved out on Friday and the family living above her moved into her place. They have two young children who I helped watch while they moved and Tomas assisted in lugging the heavy stuff. Today some other fella is moving into their old apartment. It's like musical chairs but with more furniture.

Sunday we took a crowd to the circus. Argh. Headache inducing madness. This morning Jack had his one month check up. He has a cold and has barely been sleeping at night. I'm walking around like a zombie again. He's gained some but not as much as he was gaining, up to 7lbs 12 ozs now and 21 inches. My kids never gained quickly though. I'm not too worried.

I'm feeling old and uninteresting today.

Jack was a week old today (though this picture was taken yesterday). He's a sweet little hobbit. Eventually I'll have something other than BABY to talk about but right now it's pretty much all I do or think about. The weight gain should help me to relax and not be quite as obsessively worried. I can't believe it's been a week already. I'm going to miss having my husband at home next week.

We took Jack to the pediatrician this morning and he had a wet diaper. I'd forgotten to put a wet bag in the diaper bag and had no where to put it. She gave us this. I love it. I'm afraid I'll have to keep it.

He's well and good though. Dropped as much from his birth weight as they'd like to see him lose so we'll be going back Thursday to make sure he's gaining. I expect he will be. Things are going much better now with the breast feeding.
