(no subject)

Today was 'mother in law visiting day'. We borrowed the video camera for the trip. I spent some time watching the newborn videos of Rhiannon. *sigh*

I started reading Beautiful Losers by Leonard Cohen last night. So far I am really enjoying it. So my vacation beach list so far is:

Beautiful Losers by Leonard Cohen

Jude by Thomas Hardy

American Gods by Neil Gaimen

Vallis by Philip K. Dick

Should give me a varied selection to chose from. I think there is an Ellison book Greg wants me to read too and I'll probably pick up a magazine or two for those times when I want something really fluffy that I don't have to focus on.

Anyone here going to the Snog show? Greg is supposed to be finding out about it but being Greg he really hasn't.

Ellison?

A while back when the sci-fi channel was shiney and new and low budget, they had a show where Harlen Ellison talked about.... stuff, I can't even remember now. What I do remember was thinking that he was the most repulsive, rude, annoying man I had ever seen on tv. Thankfully your personality doesn't always show up in your books, though I still can't bring myself to read one. Are they good? (I'm assuming they are since you're reading them, but what kind of good are they?)

By the by, my boy's thinking about having a housewarming party. You'll come right? And you can bring the kids and pass them around to people who love playing with them. And they'll be sleepy and all cute, and we'll all go "Awe... Can we hold her" and then you get to have fun with kids in sight, but not demanding your attention all the time. So you'll come? With or without the kids? It'll be fun :)

It'll be my first Ellison novel. I'll let you know what I think. Greg likes him a lot. I've seen him talk before. I think he's rather horrid too but so horrid he's funny. Kinda like Penn of Penn and Teller. That man is a beast.
Of course we will come (if we are around and Tomas isn't at work). Rhiannon doesn't admit to being sleep and you have to hit Isadora at just the right time. Mostly they run around in circles screaming so they've kinda passed that sweet cuddly stage. :) But hey, that's what grandmothers are for.

Indeed! And like I said, I haven't seen Ellison speak in years, so maybe it passed me by that it was a fun kind of horrible ;)

I don't think he intends it to be humorous but I just can't take him that seriously.
