God God god god. I keep saying god today. My sister in law said something like "thank god it could have been worse" about some particular portion of the day. My immediate thought was "fuck god it could have been so much better". Why do people thank God at times like these?

Because it could have been worse, and G(g)od as I understand the Deity, is manifested in the good that people do: hope, charity, giving, sacrifice, love, power, strength, renewal of purpose.

And even in our doubts and wondering what the Deity was doing with its thumb up its cosmic arse while people jumped from the building.

But God is pained not only because of our pain, but that it was done it God's name.
