Answers to [livejournal.com profile] birdofparadox's interview questions

1) You are such a good mommy: what's your favorite thing about motherhood?

There are particular things I've enjoyed about each stage of their lives so far. The sweet cuddlyness of infancy, Isadora's toddler performances, Rhiannon's serious thought out questions (we just had a short discussion about death today). I suppose overall I just enjoy watching them grow and experience life. Seeing things through their eyes.

2) Virginia Woolf's ghost comes to you in the middle of the night and tells you where to find her buried treasure, with explicit instructions that you must spend all the money on yourself, in particular a room of your own... What does your room contain? What else do you buy?

A decadent cave. Lots of exotic fabrics, dark, plush, a bed with a zillion pillows, lighting that I can change around depending on my mood with candles a plenty. I'd want a big, overstuffed, comfy aubergine velvet reading chair. Walls lined with bookshelves, full of books that are neatly arranged and organized by someone with the capacity to do that, on every topic I'm interested in and many that I'm not yet. I'd want vintage porn from around 1900-1930 on the walls here and there. There'd be little or no natural light and it would be easy to completely forget about time. Oh, and I guess if we're going for complete decadence, I'd want a wee waterfall and pool or hot tub tucked into one corner. -giggle-

3)If you could force-feed me any three books, what would they be?

Oh heavens, books change with me. There aren't very many that I'd just generally force feed anyone. :) Hrm, I'd say it would seem important to me to make sure anyone I was fond of read The Little Prince, the Pooh Bear stories, and the Chronicles of Narnia. I'm silly, I know. There have been plenty of more grown up books that I've been impressed by, or changed by in subtle ways over the years... but I tend to bond emotionally with movies rather than books. Books I use. I eat them, I absorb them, I move on. Those three, The Diamond Age, The Prophet, Mists of Avalon, the Bible, these are a few I've read more than once, but none have had the emotional impact on me that say, Breaking the Waves, or Wings of Desire have.

4) Why do you like snowglobes? (I have this picture of you twirling to Elfman's Icedance)

I guess to me, they sort of are the essence of childhood wonder. There is just something magical about them. I don't have a huge number and I think I've only ever bought one, but there are just times when sitting on the bed, picking one up and shaking it, then holding it close to my eyes, can totally change my mood.

5) What do you consider to be your Achilles Heel? What about your greatest asset?

I'm too selfish. It is the root of all of my worst traits. Greatest? Hrm, I think I'm fairly good at putting myself in someone else's shoes.
