16 years ago today. We were babies! I'm so lucky to be with someone who still makes me laugh and who I still enjoy spending time with.

This is Isadora's birthday gift, this an amp, assorted other accessories and a pack of Hello Kitty picks that she keeps calling "chips". God help us. I told my neighbor who just finished moving out yesterday to their new house that she picked a very good time to seek new shelter.

I finished a sock! It took me a week but I am now ready for the GLBT single sock hop. Or something. The picture is terribly unflattering and makes my legs look like logs which they might anyway I just don't usually take pictures. No major flaws either except that my grafting still is sloppy and there's a place where I wished I'd picked up more stitches since there's more stress on that area when the sock is on and it makes a small hole. Other than that I'm pretty happy with my first sock!

Next time I make a pair I probably should learn the two at a time magic loop method and use smaller needles (I used a size 3). Also I think I'd rather just have the ribbing at the tip top but this was a good beginners sock class so I'm not complaining too much.

The work at home mom I ordered my diapers from (StickyPeas) sent me pictures of the nearly finished product. Here are the three I'm most tickled by (they're all adorable and the other pics are on my Flickr page).

Jack's new soaker

This is a soaker (diaper cover) I started yesterday. I'm oddly attracted to this color even though I know it's a bit drab and dull. I once painted my kitchen a similar color which turned out to be a hideous mistake because it made it look like the interior of a submarine.

The soaker is going ok. I had to learn to do an 'eyelet row' but I'm not sure I did it quite right because the ribbing looks a little twisted above the holes. Also after I finished the ribbing I started on the body of the soaker for a few minutes and then went to get the kids from school. When I got back my brain was still in ribbing mode and I accidentally went around once in k2p2 and so had to rip it out. I'm still not sure which way the stitches go back on the needles, I can't figure it out. So there are some places where the stitches are twisted. Other than that I guess I'm happy with it so far but I've still got the tricky part to come where I do decreases for the first time. Then I'll get my second chance at that whole Kitchener thing and this time I will overcome dernit!

Look how well he's sitting up! He really loves the lap harp. Of course it's completely detuned so now it sounds like some sort of Chinese music when we play it. He'll grow up with an ear for gamelan or something.

Strawberry season!!

Isadora is off with a friend seeing a My Little Pony stage show (god help us). So far today we've been to Chick-fil-A for breakfast then down to Super H for fun food things for the girls lunchboxes and over to Atlanta Cupcake Factory for a dozen cupcakes. I wasn't overly impressed with the chocolate one I ate, the cake was dry which shouldn't be an issue with a cupcake that cost as much as that one did. The others I've tried have been better but not amazingly so.

Now I'm giving Rhiannon's hair one last creepy crawler treatment (*shudder*) and I'm going to henna mine. For some reason I got a LOT of grey during my pregnancy and though Tomas claims its cute it really bothers me.

Tomorrow we're going to try and find a Hello Kitty store. Also I've decided that I need some Apple Bottom Jeans. I suspect they're well suited to my particular shape. It would be nice to find jeans that fit my hips and bum and also my waist. Contrary to what most clothes manufacturers seem to think even big women have waists.
