Arg. Just got out of a nice bath. One small problem... purple everywhere. Sheesh. Special Effects is really the best dye (imho) but damn it stains everything and bleeds to bits. So there I was taking a nice minty Lush bath and upon dunking my head everything turns purple. I think if you looked at a Me pre-bath next to the Me now you would notice a slight lavender tinge. Not that it's a bad thing to be purple, if people could be other colors I guess purple would be a nice shade to be. I'm quite fond of it, I just wasn't prepared to be the only purple person out there. There was something a bit very peculiar about the whole bath. I felt like little pink bubbles needed to be floating over my head while go-go dancers danced and oh I don't know... it was just kinda weird.

Just tossed some jerk marinade into some chicken strips to grill for dinner later (along with black beans and rice). This brand must be hotter than the one I am used to. After washing my hands well and taking a bath and putting lotion on them, when I nibbled on my nails (bad habit) my mouth started burning. Apparently there are scotch bonnets in it. Hrm. Ouch. I hope Rhiannon won't freak out over it.

There is a news story about a church here in Atlanta who's members whip or spank their children and may have them taken away. I've heard both 'whip' and 'spank' used by the reporter but to me there seems to be a huge difference between the two. I have a very strong knee jerk reaction to these sorts of stories because of my great fear that the government is becoming way too involved in what should be personal family choices. In my mind the parents should make the decision to spank or not. Whipping on the other hand crosses the line. No child should be left bruised or covered in welts. Tomas and I don't plan on spanking but we do on occasion spank Rhiannon's hand. As a child I was 'belted' and I think that was too much. However, I knew kids that had it much worse. *sigh* Such a difficult issue. I think that only so much planning out of these matters can be done before you have kids because living the reality of being a parent is so much different than any hypothetical situation you can come up with. Sometimes I feel like I am just throwing darts at a board and hoping that I make the right choice. I figure they will become teenagers and find things to hate me for no matter what I do and I can only do the best I can so no reason to stress myself out about it too much. :) Ah parenthood.

Greg is coming to see me soon. I hope he can get here for Atlanta.con. It would be so much more fun with him going. He has to get his puppy Othello shots and a travel case thingie and that means he has to wait for his mom to do it since she is the only one with access to a car. Grrr. Arg. I hope that doesn't take too long.
