Apr. 29th, 2001 10:33 amYesterday did not go quite as planned. After we left both of the children with the various grandmothers, we found Fogo de Chao's only to discover that it was closed and we were not going to come back for dinner which would have been far to expensive. :( We will be back. I must have beef. So we ended up with sushi which was fine. We leave there and go to Lenox where I bought some MAC. I need a tackle box for my makeup. It's getting out of hand. I don't wear it that often but owning all those colors brings me joy. Some people collect shoes I collect makeup. I almost bought a new Hard Candy eye shadow quad. The one I have gets used all the time. One of the things I did get was some pink lip lacquer. It was about $18 and Tomas had a fit. "How could anything be worth that?!" Bleh. "But it makes my lips all pink and shiny!" I really do love it though. It has a purple sheen to it... and I love purple. In fact the other two things I bought were both purple. After walking around for a bit we left that mall and headed back to our side of town. We drove to our local multiplex and got tickets to see Town and Country. It was the only thing playing that I didn't think Greg would want to see. The movie was ok but what made my day was getting to see the Moulin Rouge trailer. :) Yum yum. Plus they had a trailer for a movie coming out directed by Alan Cumming and Jennifer Jason Leigh that has Parker Posey and a pile of other nifty people in it. Looked cute. Tomas practically wept over the Perl Harbor trailer once again (yeah yeah big summer even movie *yawn*) and they showed the A.I. teaser (that's looking better and better). After the movie we went to collect Isadora from Tomas's mom's house. She ends up taking up to get calzones for dinner. They were good. When we get home there is a message on the phone from my mom saying that she had left Rhiannon in the computer room upstairs while she was putting on her makeup in the next room. When she went to check on her she wasn't' there but instead had gone down the stairs, opened the front door, gone down the front stairs and was playing in the swing in her front yard. She said that her newer collie, Beau (who has also never been alone outside), was standing right beside her like he was guarding her. My heart clenched up. God, what if something had happened to her? She could have wandered into the street or someone could have taken her. Tomas and I had just been talking on the way home last night about how I feel terrified that something will happen to my children anytime I hear about something bad happening anywhere in the city if they are not with me. Even when I know they are nowhere near it. We saw smoke off the freeway and my first thought was "where are my kids?". It's ridiculous I know, but I also know that for the rest of my life I will have these fears. It's odd to feel so strongly protective. Reminds me of a story...
When I was pregnant with Rhiannon we went up to the Chattanooga aquarium. They have an otter exhibit. I didn't remember what was in the exhibit when I walked up to it and was looking down into the water (it was like an open pool of it sort of) trying to see what was in there. Suddenly an otter came swimming quickly to the surface and kind of popped out at me. I screamed and jumped backwards covering my belly. Everyone stared at me like I was a lunatic except for this old man who just laughed at me. Tomas was in hysterics and ragged me about it forever. "Afraid the rabid otters were going to jump out and eat you alive Chava?" But all I new was something dark and furry was headed toward my baby and he sure as hell wasn't getting to her. hehe
