My mom just told me that my father was in New York this weekend and she doesn't know when he was supposed to be back. I emailed him. I hope he's home now.
I can't believe this is happening again. I can't believe that my first thought is that this is terrorism now. Things have changed so much.

When I was in my early teens there was this creek I could walk to from my house. If you wandered down it a ways you came to a place where it had washed out the side of a hill making a kind of alcove in the ground. In it were all sorts of mossy rocks and hanging plants. I spent a lot of time there and right now I wish I had such a retreat. Quiet, cool and solitary.
