Jun. 4th, 2005 05:02 pmWe took the kids up to the Children's Museum today. It's about a mile walk to the Marta station nearest to us, then a short ride into the Five Points station, around 5 or so blocks to the CNN center from there where we had lunch and then a good solid walk through Centennial Park. The museum is at one end of it. They are building the new aquarium in that area too. It's impressive looking. So anyway, the children should be fairly well worn out between all the walking and playing.
It is always interesting to watch other parents interacting with their kids. This museum is made for the 8 and under crowd so the adults are generally pretty involved helping make 'sand' castles (it's some sort of fake silicon sand), getting tap shoes on and off, fetching fish from the 'stream', pulling kids out of slides... that sort of thing. Today though we saw a toddler who could not have been any older than two, wandering around the building slurping Coke from a can with a straw. It made me sad. I mean I had the occasional taste of Coke from time to time as a wee babe and my kids get Sprite maybe half the time when we eat out at a restaurant, but to just send your toddler off wandering with can and a straw... *sigh*
In less child centric news, The Complete Bushisms is both sad and amusing.
