This morning while browsing through the On Demand offerings for children I noticed an episode of Veggie Tales. My own prejudices make me want to ban Christian propaganda much the way my mother banned Santa, but then I read something like [livejournal.com profile] idlewild_'s recent post in which she overheard a couple of heathens revealing their ignorance about basic bible lore and I wince. It's important for understanding our culture here to have at least some knowledge of the bible, however I'm not sure I want that education to come in the form of a dancing head of broccoli singing about a 'Message from the Lord'.

This came across a list I'm on today. Some choice quotes from the article:

"A prominent female state senator has said that she does not support the 19th Amendment, which guarantees women the right to vote, and that if it were being considered today she would vote against it.

Sen. Kay O'Connor recently told the co-presidents of the Johnson County League of Women Voters that the amendment was the first step in a decades-long erosion of traditional family values. "

"Asked if she supports the 19th Amendment, the Republican lawmaker responded: "I'm an old-fashioned woman. Men should take care of women, and if men were taking care of women (today) we wouldn't have to vote."

Arrrrrrrrgh! Just..... GAH!
