There's a time for thinking and there's a time to shut yourself the hell up and just live. It's difficult sometimes to find the right balance between the two, to know when you've done enough analyzing and examination and to know that it's time to let life happen and experience it rather than always trying to understand and outsmart it. It's too easy to slip fully into the role of either a passenger or an observer and either of those let you out of your real place in life as a participant. Life is too beautiful and scary to not engage yourself with it and in it. You can't outwit it or outthink it and conversely you aren't a helpless being swept along powerlessly in its flow.

Had a rather pleasant Marta experience today compared to my trip to the airport last week. I met Tomas for lunch and taxes. Waiting for the train back there was an old man who gave every appearance of being one of those impassioned old school street preachers except that when he opened his mouth to speak the only sounds that came out were screeches and grunts. They had the semblance of a very emotional hell and brim-fire type sermon but never actually made words. It was interesting and kind of sad. The people waiting seemed divided between those who were a little afraid, some who were amused (one guy holding up his cell phone to share the experience) and those who could have cared less and probably wouldn't have batted a lash had pigs flown.
