Sep. 14th, 2009 12:23 pmVery uneventful weekend.
Tomas and the girls had "Daddy Day" yesterday during which they watched Romeo and Juliet (the one with Leonardo Dicaprio), Karate Kid and Monty Python's Holy Grail (skipping the Sir Gallahad scene) and made ice cream and rainbow sherbet floats.
I watched the True Blood finale last night, HATED it. Just awful. Awful pacing, awful dialogue, awful wrap up to the plots. Just awful. Mad Men was better but not one of its best episodes. Then I watched the VMA's. I have to say apart from the one guy who broke the lean move at the end, the Michael Jackson dancers at the beginning were some of the best 'award show' dancers I've ever seen. They were fantastic. Janet looked old and sluggish by comparison. Kanye needs to crawl back into whatever cretinous hole he crawled out of.
Jack's 'free range' area has been expanded from just his room to his room + the living and dining rooms but instead of being happy about it he just seems totally irritated by the also expanded 'no' list. No, you can't go in the kitchen. No, you can't pull out all the dvds. No, you can't turn the tv off while your sisters are watching it. No, we can't go outside right now. He is starting to throw more and more tantrums which is to be expected as he moves towards being 2.
He's still not talking much, at least not that we can understand and he certainly won't perform. He says, "Yes" but not no. He says, "I did it!" and we've heard a few other words here and there but not much consistently. What he does do is babble in these long intense conversations that completely mimic normal adult conversation but wherein all actual words are replaced by long strings of, "Duckaduckaducka" complete with emotive hand gestures, leg slapping and pointing. Mom says it's because he wants to talk with the speed of an older person but can't get actual words out that quickly yet. Who knows.
