I'm watching Politically Incorrect tonight. Jerry Fallwell is on as is one of those "abstinence till marriage" weird girls. I keep hearing things come out of their mouths that I was raised hearing and are as familiar to my ears as 80's pop tunes are to most people my age. Freaks me out. I listen to them and all I can think is "Why?". How can people be so arrogant and ignorant? I hate hearing people who have been in the church so long that they are incapable of speaking to normal human beings. Instead they toss around phrases like "redemption" "salvation" "born again" and on and on. Church people get so separated from the real world that they can no longer relate. One of the big things is "In the world but not of it." and so many take it to such extremes. There is this whole religion that is so far removed from the actual spirit of what Christ taught and so full of utterly self absorbed people that all they can think about is making everyone else as blissfully "happy in the Lord" as they are. I get physically ill when I hear their rhetoric now. My stomach churns. I suppose it's like all other things... the majority of people never get beyond the Backstreet Boys and Brittney Spears of Spirituality.
