The vacation was cursed, I don't want to go into the gory details here, but we did have a few good moments. For instance, there was a marvelous bookstore in town where I went mad and purchased far too many books. I picked up copies of The Bostonians, Nana,Tess of the D'Urbervilles, The Virgin Suicides, and Savage Beauty a biography about Edna St. Vincent Millay. As I was about to leave, I spied a wee book called Watching Hannah; Sexuality, Horror, and Bodily De-formation in Victorian England, so of course I had to get it. It is about a man named Arthur Munby who had a thing for working and/or deformed women. Quite interesting. Now I just have to find time to read all of these.

My sister has a copy of The Virgin Suicides , maybe I'll read it if you think it's worth reading. I'm short on reading material ...enjoyable reading material. One can only handle so many textbooks.

I suspect I will enjoy it. The movie was quite good and I just finished the writer's second book, Middlesex and really liked it. I am going to be reading The Bostonians first though, so it will be a while before I get around to it.
