danuvTurned 30 yesterday. The day was spent as quietly as one can with two young girls in the house. We didn't go anywhere till the evening when my father cooked dinner for the family. His gift to me was this incredible chocolate-orange-almond cake that apparently takes a day to make (he took off work on Friday to make it). It is the most delicious cake in all the world.
Mom called me earlier in the day to let me know my turning 30 made her feel older than when she turned 50 in January. Thanks mom.
The girls were delighted by my dad's koi pond and after we ate he played at his piano and the children danced. Thankfully no precious antiques were destroyed or broken, dinner was enjoyed and we all went home happy and well fed. Hopefully next weekend Tomas and I will be able to leave the kids with Grandma and go have a quiet dinner and see a movie as a late celebration.
