This has been a disorienting day and I'm still too in the middle of it to comment on it right now.

So politics!

Tomas has been ranting about this for months but I didn't believe him until the lovely and talented Roisnoir started posting about it. So instead of digging up a bunch of new ones I'm just going to steal her links.

2257 was initially designed as a child porn law. Good thing, right? Of course. Well lately they've decided to tack all sorts of other lovely things onto it under the auspices of protecting the children, because who doesn't want to protect children? The thing is these changes are in all likelihood there to make it easier for the government to go after all sorts of people it doesn't like, particularly in the adult industry. And yes, they are taking it seriously. Very seriously.

Wired article:
Blue Law Makes Webmasters See Red

Roisnoir says this is a readable copy of the law. I'll take her word on that. It made me cross eyed. :)

An adult industry article on it. Pay close attention to the last part.
Ammended 2257 Reulations Published in Federal Register

I hate hate how this has slipped in unnoticed by soooo many people.
