(no subject)
Nov. 26th, 2004 09:45 amTomas and I have decided that we need to make some changes in our diet. Now I am very aware of my tendency to obsess on something for a while then move on to a new topic after a period of time (sometimes short, sometimes long). However I like to think that I never completely ditch the obsession but rather assimilate parts of it into my life and set the intensity aside while maintaining a more balanced interest. This seems to be true of many of the recent things I've gone through.
I'm no longer reading the BPAL forums all day long nor planning massive orders ever month but I enjoy the oils that I have and will likely order some more once Christmas is over. I find myself even more sensitive and appreciative of scents than I once was and more aware of their effect on me and the people around me.
I still am quite fascinated by Marcel Duchamp and gang even though I don't feel the need to read and research nonstop. I have a decent base of knowledge that I can pull from when I encounter things related to him or to Dada and am able to recognize his influence much more easily now. I also retain a strong interest in the various artists of that general period even though I'm not feeling desperate to buy dozens of books at this moment. I'm absolutely sure that I'll pick that obsession up again shortly. It isn't going anywhere.
Now I'm reading a lot about food and feeling my interest in vegetarian cooking surge again. I'm not bloody likely to go vegan or any somesuch thing but this temporary obsession should leave me with a better understanding of nutrition and a larger catalogue of healthy meals to add to my cooking. We have been eating out a lot less than ever lately and we are at a very good point in our lives to once again reexamine the way that we treat, think about, and handle food.
