J says that the best way to improve my communication skills (to get better at spewing knowledge rather than only ever absorbing it) is to write and write a lot. This seems like wise advice but every time I sit down to do something about it my brain locks up. How do you think of anything to write about without someone else giving you the parameters?

iJournal is submitting my Music tag in what looks like Chinese characters. I have no idea why. I hope it is actually the title of the song and not some slanderous gossip about me ("She eats her bananas with a knife!").

Slander is spoken, libel is written. And it's not libelous when it's true!

Freewrite - no parameters. Just start writing what you are thinking about anything at all, then go back and pick something that looks like a good starting point. No rules, no grammar. You are even allowed to/supposed to write stuff like "I don't know what I feel like writing about just now, I'm just doing this an exercise." until you get somewhre useful as an actual jumping point :)

I'll give that a try. I even bought a nifty notebook which is entirely free of squid people or bizarre notes scribbled by 6 year olds.

Yes, bizarre-scribble free notebooks just for you are also important!
