I've been depressed all day and so I'm viewing everything in the most negative light possible or maybe everything is negative and so I'm depressed. It's more likely to be the first since I've been fighting the inclination to curl up and give in to this mood for days. I still fought it today but just haven't been quite as successful.

Right now I'm reading The Short Life and Long Times of Mrs. Beeton and am enjoying it very much. Of course this means I had to go and order a copy of Mrs. Beeton's Book of Household Management and a shiny new copy just would not do. Luckily I managed to find a reprint from the 1930's in pretty good condition on ebay for just about the price I'd put aside for a new pair of sneakers and a new old book is way more fun than a pair of shoes anyway.

Have you ever read "Feeling Good" by David Burns? It's improved my quality of life. It puts things in perspective when you're depressed. I'm not one for self help books, but this is a book that you truly can read to help yourself. It puts things in perspective if nothing else. :)

Feel better :)

I'm actually pretty satisfied with my life in general right now. I wasn't depressed -about- something. It was just a biological/brain chemistry induced funk and when I'm in it it tends to color the way I see everything which isn't at all fair to the people who are effected by that. Luckily I've learned to recognize them for what they are and not turn them into 'I hate my life' periods when really, I don't. I just remind myself that it will eventually pass and eventually it does. Thank you for the book suggestion. :)

The book is indeed about real depression, not just being sad about something. It's about recognizing specific thoughts for what they are, and when you're depressed that's hard to do. Feeling Good spells things out in a way that's indepth but easy enough to understand.

You could probably get it at the library, it's been around for a long time :)
