May. 22nd, 2007 09:42 amThis is becoming a very unproductive week. I don't seem to be interested in doing anything but refreshing the same 5 web pages while lounging in bed. That really has to stop. It's also the girl's last week of school. I feel cheated though because I have to go up there Wed and Thur for 'portfolio share' day and pizza lunch and then Friday for the big school picnic after which we take the kids home.
We're working on getting ourselves an old cheap Volvo wagon. It seems to be the most practical car choice for the amount of money we have to spend (almost nothing). It will be such a relief to have something though.
A neighbor gave us some comp tickets to the Renn Fest so we got to go do that on Saturday and still managed to spend an obscene amount of money on absolutely nothing but the girls seemed to really enjoy it. We only go every few years since it's basically a money trap, but where else can you find such a wide variety of food on sticks? Rhiannon got her hair braided and I think it was beautiful. She got to wear it braided to school Monday then we pulled it out last night and it was all curly and fluffy and she was utterly delighted and amused. I suppose I ought to buy the girl a set of curlers to play with.
Sunday we went with dad and my sister (and her crew) down to my grandparents for their breakfast meal. My uncles who I haven't seen since before I was married were there. I got a little footage of my grandmother making biscuits to preserve for posterity. I told her it was a culturally significant activity but I don't think she believed me. My granddad took the girls on a walk around the garden and pointed out various plants to them. We'll have to take them back down again when things are bigger.
The neighborhood CSA finally starts up next week. I'm very very excited. Probably more excited than a person should be over vegetables.
