Watched the Oscars tonight and was very glad that Avatar did not win the big awards. I really disliked that film. Intensely. I suppose it would make a fine ride at WDW or something but if I wanted to be beaten over the head by someone's environmental and tolerance message for two hours I'd watch a documentary (and I often do!) not badly written special effects festival with meh acting and a tired tired plot. So I'm glad The Hurt Locker won even if it wasn't the best movie ever.

But then upon discussing this in guild chat I get messaged by a friend and told I'm being pretentious which maybe I was... a bit. I get a little overenthusiastic about things I like. Just a little. Maybe. And I really wish I had someone who liked weird, foreign and indie movies to talk to. I have opinions. I want to hear other people's opinions and ideas but no one I know likes the same kind of movies I do and it makes me feel a bit movie lonely.

Alas. So hard is my life.

I didn't think you were being pretentious. It's just that when it comes to movies (and music), anybody seems pretentious compared to me because I don't know anything about anything. All about the relativity.
