Today was an eventful day in the life of a Chavaleh. Thomas signed the lease on a new condo that we'll be moving into the first weekend in March. We've been in this apartment for 8 years now and aside from just having plain outgrown it the fact that we only have one bathroom and two preteen girls has made it impractical. I will miss it tremendously but its time to move on. The new condo has 2.5 baths, space to carve out a 4th bedroom and is new construction so we'll be saying goodbye to our 12 foot ceilings but also saying goodbye to the $400 cooling bills in the summer months. It will be nice to be in a home with insulation and without tricks to making the various doors open. Also nice is the fact that our unit will be right across the sidewalk from Isadora's best friend whose mother has also been a good friend to me.

The other big event of the day was that I started taking a pottery class to learn wheel throwing. Tonight was my first class and I had a wonderful time. I really really loved it. I made three silly little bowls and a silly little cup thingie. 7 more once a week classes. It is a pretty big step for me to leave the house and interact with other unknown human beings on my own.

Jack is at the top of a wait list for a preschool slot next year. Hopefully he will get in and then his mommy will get very serious about getting herself in some sort of school.

Much thinking lately about spirituality and how a principled agnostic can have a spiritual practice. My simple acknowledgment of my inability to know has been enough to satisfy me for many years but I'm feeling a deep restlessness and I am not really sure what to do with it. My beliefs haven't changed. I am not dissatisfied with being an agnostic at all, just in my disconnect from spirituality which is a different thing than my missing the tradition of religion. Its all very weird and isn't something i feel like makes a lot of sense when i say it aloud, but its percolating.
