oh and....I've never e-mailed bob, I've only replied to e-mails he sent me, as for trashing him and his friend, I merely said that I didn't care for a poem he wrote, and offered him some advice on writing poetry...

I then did get a little snippy with butterflysnf, because she was accusing me of being envious of bob, which is ludicrious. I told her that I was in no way envious of bob, and she replied by saying I hadn't answered her question of why I was evious of bob. Nowhere in her posts did I see anything that resembled a question...in fact all she said was "if you are someone who envies" She has horrible grammar, and I was getting frustrated with her poor communication skills, so I asked her if she was speaking a pidgin.

Bob then demanded that I apologize or be banned from his journal. I refused to apologize simply because he told me to, although I offered to apologize if she indicated that I caused her any emotional trauma...she did not. She simply accused me of being envious of bob again.

I was correct that she was using a sort of pidgin, since english is her second language and she admitted this and that she was still struggling with it later on in the same thread.

Anyhow, he is afraid of me...so he goes out of his way to demonize me. If I point out his fallacies, I've misrepresented and misquoted him...if he gets banned from communities for consistently badgering me in comment threads, that's his fault not mine, and I did nothing to orchestrate it.

I've reported this last incident to LJ abuse, simply because I put a disclaimer in my user info, that he is aware of, specifically to prevent him from referring to me in his journal. He has resorted to incorectly paraphrasing me, and he revels in the jingoistic, nationalistic and facist commentary of his other friends, regarding me, while doing nothing to point out the danger of their attitudes.

I truly appreciate that you tried to defend me, and yourself, and the rest of our age group in his journal, but I'm pretty sure it's a wasted effort where he is concerned. He pretends to some sort of critical thought and social awareness, yet he refuses to rebuff these very negative, ignorant and dangerous attitudes that his friends illustrate. I won't even bother to comment on the cartoons and pictures he posts, or the assinine commentary that accompanies them. That's his right. But when the audienc he's built off of these images is encouraged to target me....I get worried, and offended.


Okay...I'm going on way too long about this, and I'm sorry to post such a rant in your journal, but I can't defend myself in his. I only hope that he follows my example and leaves me out of his personal commentary as I have chosen to leave him out of mine.

I'm just asking for a cease fire. :) It's pretty obvious that neither of you are going to make any inroads with the other and this is just going to keep being ugly.
He is not an evil man... just a fairly normal one for his age. He has (as I said) always been kind to me... supported me when I was down and had sincere concern. I don't enjoy his pictures but I put up with them because they are obviously something that amuses him and his friends. I never expected to enjoy or like everything someone on my friends list does. I haven't tried to collect a group of carbon copies of me. ;) That would just bore me to death. So I ignore the pictures. I don't think he hates our age group just has some incorrect judgements about them. As if the older generations have ever understood those that came after them. I think he has an irrational fear of your views and their potiential impact on his life. Fear makes people do odd things.
Your post about WW2 did make it seem as if you thought we should not have been there... had I not read your comments I would have been left with the same impression he got. I know most of his friends never bothered to read those comments (or maybe they weren't there yet when they did) and I was really bothered by the way some of them chose to respond. I may not agree with everything you say but I will support and defend your right to say them.
