On tv... a show about the myth of Dracula... something said about Bela Lugosi.

Tomas: He's dead.
Tomas: Undead.
Greg: Undead, undead, undead.

Bwahahahahaha.

It was a dull show... nothing new same old stuff they drag out everytime they do a show on him.
Romania is on my "countries to visit" list. I could have gone there in high school but went to Russia instead. Did the whole month mission trip thing. Heh.

I'm thinking of somewhere in indonesia or southeast asia is where I'll go next. Although, I'd really enjoy seeing Russia, and I'd really like to see more of central Asia as well, Khazakstan and Kashmir rank high on my list. I have a firend that is a pianist, who lives in Alma-Alta. Her father was the Soviet national tenor for many years. She used to be my accompanist at vocal competitions.

The one post in the bob threads that cracks me up is when one of his friends drones..."she should live somewhere else for a week...she'd come crying back to the US etc. etc." I'm an Anthropologist, and very well traveled. I'm aware of the stages of culture shock, and I handle them in stride and usulaly enjoy myself no matter where I am.

I'd like to see them live in Bucharest (with a family, not at a motel) like I did for a month. Hell, they prolly wouldn't survive at a hotel either.

Romania is beautiful...surreal...it's like a fairy tale. Thick forests of twisted deciduous trees, with little undergrowth, just trees and grass across a flat flood plain, with huge rabbits running about, and game birds.

Most people think of the very Northern part of Romania/ transylvania, but this is only one small region that has gone back and forth between them an Hungary over the years. The bulk of Romania is flat and the people are decidedly mediteranian. It's similar to Macedonia in some ways.

Romania sounds beautiful. I've always had a strong desire to visit Istanbul. My parents almost moved to Khazakstan to become missionaries. I'd love to travel more. It is important to me that my children do a good bit of it because it changed the way I view the United States so much.
It really bothers me when someone responds to a person's complaints about the U.S. by saying "Well move somewhere else then.". Being unhappy with the status quo doesn't mean you hate being a citizen of a country. You have just as much right to try and change things as they do to not.
