I went to make sure the kids were up and moving this morning and found one of my notebooks on the floor with this scrawled on it:

So I decided it was probably time to buy the child her own diary. Luckily I needed to go by Borders to get myself a copy of The System of the World so it worked out. I just hope she can learn to keep it away from Isadora the Pink.

I sat here trying to decipher that until I gave up and just read the post.

I still haven't read the first book. How are they really compared to his other stuff?

You get used to the way she forms letters. There are a lot of things she does that I can't decipher but she's getting better very quickly.

Well I'm on the third book and they are fairly massive so I must like them well enough. They are different from his other books... there's nothing set in the modern time... a lot more historical content, but I guess that's rather obvious. Worth at least giving the first book a try.

I'm not a good judge of books. I either like them or I don't. I find these difficult to compare to his others. I guess they are most like Cryptonomicon in style and content but much more dense?

It's been a while since I've read Crypt. but it seems like there is a lot more going on in these books? Could be wrong.

I see. I'll have to get to them eventually. I guess I'm interested, but I'm not terribly excited about more Cryptonomicon either.
