Two "events" in the news that I feel compelled to talk about. First off (because it makes me less ill than the second thing) is Ginger/It/Segway. What do you all think about this thing? Revolutionary idea or over hyped scooter? I'm not really sure yet. Maybe it's the earliest step in something revolutionary I think. I don't live "in" the city so there isn't a lot it could do for me. Perhaps if I did...? Also doesn't look very useful for someone with small children. And they keep touting it's usefulness for carrying and delivering packages... but what are you supposed to do with them? Sling them over your shoulder the whole time? I suppose they will eventually add and adapt things.... small storage areas? Places to put small children? Right now it just looks like a fun toy.

Next thing...

Israel and Palestine make me utterly ill. They are like toddlers with deadly weapons (not that the U.S. can't be that way sometimes, we are after all the biggest kid in the sandbox). Sometimes I wish that all the malcontents over there would just hurry up and blow each other to bits so that the Jews and Arabs who are actually capable of living together in peace could just make their own country. I know better, however, than to actually ever dream there will be peace in that area. It just isn't going to happen. Growing up I always believed... "Oh those evil Arabs tormenting God's people" but I know better now. I'd be pretty damn upset too if I'd been living somewhere for generations and someone decided to make my front yard their homeland. Not that I don't understand the Jewish need for one. *sigh* What a fucking mess.

Well, I've made myself sick now. Think I'll go back to reading about silly new inventions.

i agree that it is a bad analogy...tho I think we need basic math skills too.

a better analogy might have been the difference between a bicycle and a motorcycle.

a better analogy for the math one might have been the difference between using a slide rule to figure out a computation and a calculator.
